Meet ContaGen: Open-Web Contact Discovery

Meet ContaGen: Open-Web Contact Discovery

We just released ContaGen, our new contact discovery agent, as part of the DiscoLike V2 rollout. There is 3x more contact data on the open web than what is visible in LinkedIn based contact datasets.

The Open Web Is Disorganized

The open web contact data is completely disorganized, spread across company websites, trade directories, social posts, local business news, state databases, and many other places, making it nearly impossible to search and normalize.

Most Providers Rely on LinkedIn-Based Data

Most contact enrichment providers rely on LinkedIn based data. That works okay for tech and marketing audiences, but quickly falls apart outside of those verticals, providing partial coverage at best.

A Year to Get Contact Discovery Right

It took us almost a year to get contact discovery right because we had to solve for stale, outdated, and duplicate data in search results. Then we had to bring the model cost way down without lowering the quality.

A Two-Step Workflow

The end result is a two step workflow. First, we pull from our internal contacts directory, the same starting data most providers use. Then ContaGen steps in when contact data is missing or incomplete.

ContaGen uses each company’s firmographic profile, industry category, business model, social URLs, homepage text, and the model’s internal knowledge to create a unique contact search path for each company.

Tested Across Very Different Verticals

Over the last month, we tested this with clients across very different verticals, including plastic surgeons, manufacturing companies, dermatology clinics, real estate offices, legal practices, and CBD ecom stores.

The lift was surprisingly consistent, usually landing between 2.5x and 3.5x across both company coverage and contacts found.

From Business Domains to Contacts

Last year, DiscoLike expanded the business domain directory from mainly LinkedIn and Google Maps sourcing to all web business domains, almost tripling the coverage. This year, we brought the same approach to contacts.

Free and Affordable

Best part, it is free with any of our subscriptions, just BYOK for model and search providers.

Second best part, it is affordable. You are looking at $3 to $5 per 1K discovered contacts when searching for 5 contacts per company.
