But companies know LinkedIn employee counts and job postings show growth to investors and rivals, so they manipulate them with inflated headcounts and job listings, much like SEO tricks boost search rankings.

Besides, both have been overtargeted extensively and mostly only work for two verticals overrepresented on LinkedIn, tech and marketing.

We have unique visibility into a company’s digital footprint, tracking all subdomains in use: www, help, support, outreach, forms, app, and blogs are common examples.

As a company grows, it adds business functions, and those functions often come with tools hosted on new subdomains. We monitor subdomain counts over recent quarters and provide a growth index you can use to make decisions.

This data is close to impossible to manipulate, unlike a simple LinkedIn update or job post. It’s also tied to spending, you have to have a budget to support these newly established functions and pay vendors that are often behind them as well.
